Scythe

After owning an empty Scythe Legendary Box (gift confusion 😆) for two years and the actual game for a year I finally played Scythe! I knew I was going to love it because it’s a Stonemaier Game, but I think I was too intimidated.

OVERVIEW 👀
in an alternate-history 1920s Europa, players represent a fallen leader hoping to restore their honor after the great war by conquering territory, enlisting new recruits, reaping resources, building structures, gaining villagers, and utilizing Mech.

MY THOUGHTS 💭
I got to play someone else’s copy (mine is in storage at the moment) and she did an excellent job painting all the pieces and miniatures. Regardless of its beauty, I was still a little overwhelmed at first. But, there are really only four possible actions to take on your turn in the beginning, and you can’t repeat the same action two turns in a row. I found it best to just focus on my mystery goal card. Eventually the turns become very rhythmic and we could take them very quickly. However, I think the possible ways of scoring were a little lost on me so I ended up coming in second, but I cannot wait to play it again.

RECOMMEND?
Yes. It’s not as heavy as it appears. Play with someone who knows what they’re doing and you will probably love it as much as me!

  1. The legislature passes a 15 % tax on video playing machine income, effective in 1988. Voters defeat Initiative 92, which would set up a Gaming Commission and a limited listing of games allowed by counties. Voters defeat, by a 4-1 margin, an initiative to legalize playing. The legislature declares a “law enforcement 1xbet korea emergency” and allocates $40,000 to enforce playing laws; then-Attorney General Arnold Olson complies. Nationally, scandals in lottery sales end in an anti-gambling crusade.
